Yellow Pine

This historic wood ranges in colour from light yellow sapwood to dense orange-brown heartwood, with lots of grain variation. Yellow Pine is a "hard" softwood that wears very well under normal day to day use. It creates that old country home atmosphere with a comfortable feel. This pine creates a floor of great colour and interest with mixed grain patterns and density. Its features include many sound knots with variable heartwood content. Originating from Eastern America this pine was popular with original American west settlers because of its then widespread growth. Western America remains the most poplar source for reclaiming the pine today.
